Urban Decay Ocho Loco 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Set (Review and Swatches)

Urban Decay Ocho Loco 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Set

When Urban Decay released this limited edition Ocho Loco 24/7 eye pencil set last year, I was all crazy about it. ha ha seriously! But I told myself, no you already have enough eye pencils. So when Sephora sent out free $15 reward card with $50 purchase, I thought I'd use it on this eye pencil set since this was something I really really want, and I know I'll get tons of use out of this set! I'm really glad that I got it. It's such a great value: 8 full-sized eye pencils plus one sharpener, $162 worth of product for only $59 (used $15 reward card, I actually paid $44). Aside from the amazing price tag, the overall pigmentation and formula are really great.

Swatches on bare skin, no primer used.
Left to right: Stash, Junkie, LSD, Perversion, Psychedelic Sister, Rockstar, Hustle, Mushroom

swatches on bare skin (no primer)
Left to right: Stash, Junkie, LSD, Perversion

Stash: olive-green with gold shimmer. So beautiful and very wearable, and very pigmented in just one stroke.

Junkie: blueish teal with gold and teal sparkles. Color payoff was quite good, but not as good as Stash.

LSD: dark, blackened navy blue with blue sparkles. The color payoff is the worst out of these 8 pencils. I did need to layer it for desired opacity.

Perversion: is a really, really, really deep and rich black. I don't think I have any pencils that's blacker than this one. It has a matte finish which I love. The pigmentation is greaaaatttt! Sooo black, Love it!

Swatches on bare skin (no primer)
Left to right: Psychedelic Sister, Rockstar, Hustle, Mushroom

Psychedelic Sister: It's a medium to deep purple with luminous sheen, no glitter. I have this shade in eye shadow form, so beautiful. The color payoff is great, too!

Rockstar: is a dark eggplant purple with luminous sheen, no glitter. The purple is so dark that looks almost like brown, and the pigmentation is great!

Hustle: is a medium-dark warm metallic brown with bronze shimmer.

Mushroom: is a grayish brown taupe with sheen. So so so beautiful. one of my favorite!

Urban Decay Grindhouse Sharpener

In addition to 8 full-sized eye pencils, they included a double barrel pencil sharpener which is great. Once side for regular eye/lip pencil, one side for jumbo sized pencils. But I found NYX pencil sharpener is almost exactly the same as the Ueban Decay one, and works as great! See below pictures for comparison.

Left: NYX pencil sharpener (Black)
Right: Urban Decay Grindhouse Sharpener (Purple)

They all have the same shape, same blade, same design. The only difference is the price tag, really. I use it since it's included in the set, but I will buy the NYX one if I were to buy a new sharpener. (NYX one was $3.99 when I bought it, so cheap, but great quality!)

All in all, I really really enjoy using these eye pencils. Wonderful pigmentation, creamy, long-wear and waterproof! Although I'm more of a neutral person, Junkie and LSD didn't get much use, still, it's a great value for 8 full-sized pencils. My top picks: Stash, Perversion, Rockstar, Hustle, Mushroom. Love it! And I found these don't irritate my sensitive eyes, which is a great plus!

What do you think of this eye pencil set? What are your favorite Urban Decay 24/7 eye pencil shades?

L'Oreal Smoldering Plum Infallible Eye Shadow (Swatches and Review)

L'Oreal Smoldering Plum Infallible Eye Shadow

L'Oreal infallible eye shadows were released for quite a long time (last year), and I have been passing these as I thought they might not live up to all the hypes. Couple weeks ago I did manage to pick up a couple at ULTA during their sale event (BOGO 1/2 Off + $5 Off with $10 Purchase). After playing around with these eye shadows, I was quite impressed with the color payoff as well as the lasting power.

Smoldering Plum is one of the new shades for Summer 2012. It's a rich, dark and intense blackened red toned brownish plum shade with a pretty subtle sheen/sparkle. The texture is creamy, soft and smooth. I like to use it for my outer v and sometimes along (and above) my upper lash line. I have tried it with and without eye shadow primer, either way, the color stay put for a pretty decent amount of time, at least 6-7 hours without primer and longer with primer! For application, I like to use damp brush and dip into the jar to get the eye shadow. This way there's less fallout and the color stays intense and rich even after it dries.

L'Oreal Smoldering Plum Infallible Eye Shadow

The jar is made out of plastic but it doesn't look cheap. I just wish there's plastic seal wrapped around so no one will dip their germy fingers at the stores trying to test out the colors...

L'Oreal Smoldering Plum Infallible Eye Shadow

When opened, there's a plastic press thing that you can use to compact and keep the eye shadow in place as the texture of the eye shadow is more like loose pigments, but in a compact form. They will loosen the more you use it so it is important to keep the "do not discard" plastic thing in the jar in the event you might need to re-press the eye shadow.

L'Oreal Iced Latte Infallible Eye Shadow (Swatches and Review)

L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow 888 Iced Latte

L'Oreal infallible eye shadows were released quite a long time (last year), and I have been passing these as I thought they might not live up to all the hypes. Couple weeks ago I did manage to pick up a couple at ULTA during their sale event (BOGO 1/2 Off + $5 Off with $10 Purchase). After playing around with these eye shadows, I was quite impressed with the color payoff as well as the lasting power.

L'Oreal Infallible Eye Shadow 888 Iced Latte

Iced Latte is a gorgeous champagne beige shade with a shimmering metallic finish. It is great for all over lids, inner corners, and center of the lids. But I love using this just for my inner corners for highlight. It instantly brighten up the eyes. Not so great for brow bones highlight as it has that shimmering metallic finish.

The jar is made out of plastic but it doesn't look cheap. I just wish there's plastic seal wrapped around so no one will dip their germy fingers at the stores trying to test out the colors...

For application, I have tried using both brushes and fingers to apply. And I found it best to use finger to dab on the desired eye area first (so there's less fall out) and then blend away with brush. It has a silky creamy like texture with great pigmentation so a little goes a long way. The color payoff is great even without the use of eyeshadow primer. And it lasts pretty much the whole day! For $7~8 on a single drugstore eye shadow I think it's pretty pricey. So shop around, and I'm sure you'll find some good deals. I got mine for $3.22 each jar (after BOGO 1/2 off and coupons) I thought it's a awesome deal^^

Wet n Wild Blue Had Me At Hello Eyeshadow Palette and EOTD

Wet n Wild Blue Had Me At Hello Eyeshadow Palette

Last week during CVS's Wet n Wild BOGO FREE sale, I was going to pick up both Petal Pusher and Comfort Zone eyeshadow palettes. But the only 2 Comfort Zone left on the display were all shattered so I told myself, ok, I already have enough neutrals, maybe I should try some "colors" so I grabbed this along with Petal Pusher to the cashier. (for review/swatches/eye makeup look on Petal Pusher, click here)

Urban Decay Naked2 Palette (Swatches and Review)

I don't know why I've never post anything about my beloved Naked2 palette. I got it from Sephora in April this year during their 15% off sale event (my haul here) and have been using it mostly on a everyday basis! I love this palette and it's been my go-to everyday neutral palette since then. So here we go...

Wet n Wild Petal Pusher Eyeshadow Palette and EOTD

Another item I got early this week during CVS's Wet n Wild Buy One Get One FREE sale. Petal Pusher is a great eyeshadow palette for purple eye makeup looks. I didn't expect much when I pick this up, but I'm glad I got it! The pigmentation especially the darker shades are great, and the colors are just gorgeous.

NYX Smokie Mountain (Swatch and Review)

Lately I found myself reaching for this NYX eyeshadow in Smokie Mountain quite often. Smokie Mountain is a deep army/olive green with a hint of brown and beautiful gold shimmers. It looks gorgeous in the pan and on the eyelids and is extremely pigmented. With an eyeshadow brush, I only need a very light tap for the areas I'd like to apply.  It's great for outer V as well as an eyeliner because the color is very intense, yet not as dark and harsh like black eyeshadows.

one light sweep, very pigmented and beautiful

Swatch on bare arm (no primer used)

The texture is very smooth and creamy. However, I found it to be a tad bit "loose" so I always tap the eyeshadow using my eyeshadow brush with light hand. The only downside is the "fallout" problem. I know tap off the excess before applying usually resolve the problem, but it will at the same time shake off those beautiful gold shimmers. Sometimes I like to layer Laura Mercier Baked Eye Color in Black Karat for extra sparkles and I think these two together looks super pretty! It's also very long lasting, with MAC Paint Pot (in Painterly), this eyeshadow last me the entire day!

Would you wear it? What's your favorite NYX eyeshadow shade?

Koji Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner

Koji Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner in Deep Black

When it comes to liquid eyeliner, I am no expert. I prefer pencil eyeliners or gel/cream eyeliners as they are easier to control. Last month when my sister visited me, she brought me this Dolly Wink liquid eyeliner. I've been wanted to try this Japanese liquid eyeliner for quite a long time because I've heard/read so many good reviews. And I was pretty happy I gave this a try!

Shiseido Natural Eyebrow Pencil - Natural Black

I LOVE this eyebrow pencil from Shiseido! It was truly one of my favorite 'new-find' beauty products for the past month! I got the shade Natural Black (GY901), a grayish black that's great for my natural black hair. It goes on super natural and beautiful like I have natural fuller eyebrows. ^^

MAC Paint Pot in Painterly, Swatches and Review

I have been using this MAC Paint Pot in the shade Painterly as my eyeshadow base for the past 2 months and love it since then! I got this together with Satin Taupe eyeshadow, and I was glad that I gave them a try! As described on MAC's website, this is a nude beige shade with a cream (no shimmer no glitters!) texture and finish, think of cream concealer. Since I don't have oily eye lids, I use this paint pot as a primer/base to 1) even out my eyelid skin tones; 2) make my eyeshadows stay put and last longer throughout the day; and 3) have better colors pay off so eyeshadows are more intensified and rich.

Sephora Flashy Liner and GIVEAWAY! (CLOSED)

(Please read til the end for a giveaway^-^) This is by far my favorite eye liner pencil ♥ I already have deep black, taupe, and now I got another shade in flashy ultra brown, a gorgeous rich chocolate shade with very fine gold, bronze shimmers. These flashy eyeliner pencils from Sephora are very creamy and rich in colors and textures, yet not too soft that require sharpening before every use. I'd say this flashy liner is between Urban Decay 24/7 eye pencil (which is a bit on the hard side) and NYX  Slide On eye pencils (also very creamy, but I found them too soft and require sharpening before every use!). Sephora flashy eye pencils are just perfect! Colors are very rich in pigments, super long-lasting and waterproof (you need waterproof eye makeup remover to remove!)

MAC Satin Taupe Eyeshadow, Swatches and Review

This is my go-to everyday eyeshadow for the past 1.5 months, I'm in love! Satin Taupe is one of MAC's bestseller eyeshadow, and now I see why. It's simply described as "Taupe with silver shimmer" on MAC's website. For me, this color is more than that! First, it's neutral! It has some browns, some subtle purples, and very very fine silver shimmer that you can barely see, yet give enough glow to the eyes without any "shimmery feeling"! The color is not too light and not too dark, great pigmentation! It can be worn lightly for a day time look, or heavily for a night look! Since I love love love this shade so much, I usually like to wear it by itself all over the lids and blends out the color. With eyeliner and mascara and my eyes are complete :D

Packaging information and ingredients (click picture to view)

This is what the eyeshadow looks like after 1.5 month use :) I was so glad that I picked this one up after reading so many reviews! It looks brown here, but when applied on to the eyes, it's a gorgeous brownish taupe with a hint of purple and shimmer, very beautiful! It's not too warm or too cool tone, the cool tone super fine silver shimmer balances it so well! Very flattering ♥ As for the blendability, this is very easy to work with, with very very minimum fallout. Now on to swatches!

Wet n Wild Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner Black Review and Swatch

Hello  Today I wanted to share my review on the Wet n Wild Mega Eyes Creme eyeliner in black. I have read so many good reviews on MakeupAlley (a great place for beauty product reviews!), many said this Wet n Wild creme eyeliner is comparable to MAC's fluidline, and even better, so I wanted to try this myself.

Review: Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio - 381B Sweet As Candy

Hi ♥ Hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. A while back I took advantage of Wet n Wild 40% off all cosmetics sale, I wanted to review the Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio in  Sweet As Candy that I got around using. With the high expectation from using their eyeshadow trio in Silent Treatment, this Sweet As Candy trio looked quite promising when I picked it up at the store.

Review: Sephora Moonshadow Baked Palette - In The Nude

This has been my go to everyday palette ever since I got it from Sephora's friends & family sale back in November last year. (my hual here) Sephora came out with these moonshadow baked palettes in two different ranges, one In the Nude, which is the one I got here, and one In the Dark. I swatched in the nude palette in store and instantly fell in love with these gorgeous sparkles but didn't buy until f&f sale. These shades in the palette are either neutral or warm which best meet my needs and liking

Moonshadow Baked Palette - In The Nude

What it is:

Rite Aid Haul

This week Rite Aid is having 40% off sale on Revlon face and eye cosmetics, all Wet n Wild cosmetics and all Almay eye cosmetics and makeup removers. I thought it's a good time to stock up my favorite Almay removers and try some new things^^

Softsoap antibacterial hand soap. There're some Softsoap hand soap on sale for only 97 cents! but this one has "antibacterial, eliminates 99% of germs" on the packaging so I got this, gotta make sure everybody's hands are germs free when coming home from outside and throughout the day! I tried it last night, it was not harsh on the hands at all (surprised surprised!). It did not dry out my hands and the smell was soft and light.

Almay eye makeup remover pads. I have used so many of these already. It's the best drugstore eye makeup remover pads I have ever used (to remove long wear gel/creme eyeliners and waterproof mascaras!!), great for use at home and travel!

Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio in 381B Sweet as Candy. I still use Wet n Wild Color Icon eyeshadow trio in 335 Silent Treatment sometimes and I like it a lot, especially the light pink brow bone shade and the purple/silver taupe eyelid shade! So I wanted to try other shades from this line, but only shades that's in my comfort zones. I think  Sweet as Candy trio is a sweet ice cream shades that's great for spring and summer, plus... it's neutral!!! ha ha ha I can't wait to try them. (they're only $1.79 +tax after 40% off!)

Sinful Colors nail polish in the shade Flirting Nails. This is my first Sinful Colors nail polish. This seems like an interesting and beautiful gold/nude shade and the quality of this gold is quite good, I thought it's worth trying. (regular price $1.99)

♥ Wet n Wild Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner. I've heard so many good reviews about this one, many have said that this is compatible to MAC's Fluidline blacktrack so I wanted to try it myself since my MAC fluidline cream eyeliner is running low. ($2.39 + tax after 40% off)
