MAC Studio Finish Concealer SPF 35 (NC30)

MAC Studio Finish Concealer SPF 35 (NC30) 7g/.24 US OZ
($18.00 as of  August/2012)

Even since I used Make Up For Ever's Mat Velvet + foundation (my review here, it's still my favorite foundation!), I found myself  skipping concealer quite often because of Mat Velvet+'s great coverage. But in summer when I want less foundation or go foundation-free and use BB cream instead, Studio Finish Concealer from MAC works just great. Plus it has SPF 35, which adds another protection to sun spots or any hyperpigmentations!

It comes in 13 different shades, from the lightest NC15 to the darkest NW50.

For reference, I am about NC25 in the summer time, Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet + in No.30 Porcelain (review here), Estee Lauder Double Wear Light in Intensity 2.0 (review here), and Revlon Colorstay Whipped Creme Makeup foundation in 200 Sand Beige (review here). When I was deciding my shade, NC20 was too light (maybe for winter when my skin is not as tanned), and NC30 was a bit too dark (yet I can still pull 30 off). I finally went for NC30 since my skin is more tanned in the summer and NC30 suits better (than NC20) on my skin tone.

$18.00 (as of August/2012) for 7 g/.24 oz, I think the price is fairly reasonable for a higher-end/department store/non-drugstore concealer. If you think of Bobbi Brown's famous Creamy Concealer or Corrector (great for under-eye!), you get only 1.4 g/.05 oz with the price tag of  $23.00 each (as of August/2012)!!! So always do your calculations before you jump into purchases. If you are buying 7 g/.24 oz of the Bobbi Brown concealer/corrector, you'll be paying almost $115!!! Crazy right?

I've tried different ways to apply this concealer, and I found that the best way is to use a concealer brush first and then gently dab them into skin with finger... here is my Bobbi Brown concealer brush.

The consistency for this concealer is very thick and creamy. I think it's best for sun spots, blemishes, any hyperpigmentations on the face. It might be too thick and too dry/cakey for under-eye areas. Since I don't have very heavy dark circles, I usually use foundation and layer up to cover my under-eye and I'm ready to go. When concealing, it's very important to always pat/dab the concealer gently on to the areas where you want to cover. As for staying power, depending on the weather and where you're at. When in very hot days while I was running errands outside, I noticed my concealer wore off within 3-4 hours. But in cooler days or when I'm just staying indoors, I found them to be pretty long lasting that I don't need touch-ups! Also, I like that it has SPF 35, another bonus to little imperfections on the face^^ All in all, I think this concealer is great and worth trying.

What is your favorite concealer?
